With the garage and guest house pretty much levelled and carted away, not much of a clue was left that they even existed.
The remaining garage sewer vent standing proud one last time.
Here is an interesting patchwork. To the extreme left is the garage floor. The tiled area in the center is all that remains of our laundry room. Above that the wood pergo-like flooring leads to the guest room/office. We remodeled the laundry room not too long after we moved in. Sheryl became very good at doing tile work, which proved handy when we redid our master bath and kitchen.
Not content simply destroying the garage, the workers now work their destructive magic on the main house. Here Shay's homework area makes it last stand. The wooden seated toilet remains defiant.
Another view of the carnage - from our Bedroom window.
But alas, the various "improvements" and additions of the house over the ages have fallen. This is pretty much the size of the building when built in the 1920's. The deep lot has prompted the past owners to petition the city to add a chicken coop and Old Folks home to the property. Thankfully declined. Otherwise with all the digging, we be facing some serious evil Steven King reincarnated chicken nightmares!
So ends Day three - with most of the additions and structures removed. There had been numerous giant dumpster loads heading out - with much more to come. On a positive note the backyard never looked bigger! You could almost get lost back there. But the most shocking element of the demolition was still to come.
(How's that for a teaser?)
Wow. This is freaky to open up and see for the first time. So long to the guest house. Better things to come I'm sure
